Dennis note: There was a time when entering the hospital was news and the event appeared in the newspaper. Such news can be seen in the CBH frequently in the ‘40s and 50s. Read on.

Judy Cobia discharged

Miss Judy Cobia, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.S. Cobia, was discharged from Samaritan Hospital last week. In error, we reported that she and her mother had both been patients there. Only Judy was ill and she’s recovered now.

Ann Ebel feted on 7th birthday

Ann Ebel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ebel, celebrated her seventh birthday anniversary Saturday with a movie party for several friends. They assembled at Shad’s for games, ice cream and home-made birthday cake, then went to the movie. Invited for the afternoon were Carrie Lee Threlkeld, Gerrianne Beck, Janice Carter, Marilyn Smith, Kim Morgan, Dorothy Bergman, Jackie Coy, Judy Luft and Maureen Law.

Displaced persons studied by Guild

The Dorcas Guild of the Presbyterian Church studied the problems of displaced persons at their Jan. 25 meeting. Scheduled to meet in the church, the group moved to the home of Mrs. A.P. Guffin because of the cold. Mrs. A.E. Thorn, program chairman, presented outlines of legislation pending in the congress on the subject. Mrs. S. E. Larsen, new Guild President, presided.
