A 20-year-old Coeur d’Alene woman was in critical condition Thursday afternoon at Kootenai Health after her vehicle crashed into Fernan Lake.

Maris Goldman was the driver and only occupant of the vehicle, according to a news release from the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office, Kootenai County Fire and Rescue and County EMS personnel responded to the 3700 block of east Fernan Lake Road after receiving multiple calls around 2:30 p.m. that a car had crashed into the water.

EMS personnel initiated lifesaving procedures and transported Goldman to the hospital. At 5 p.m. Thursday, Goldman was in the intensive care unit at Kootenai Health.

The Sheriff’s Office’s report said alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
