Moses Lake Store

Dennis note: The Moses Lake Store building is still in place. It is on Nelson Road, across the street from where S. Balsam Street touches Nelson. Originally the door to the store opened on the end of the building to Nelson Road. This was also the building housing the first Moses Lake Post Office with Miss Jesse MacDonald as postmistress. The MacDonalds lived in the two-story house next door.

-Finlay and Donald MacDonald were in Ephrata last Tuesday on business.

-Miss Mary and Etta Campbell visited with Mrs. Myra Ewald on Tuesday.

-Mrs. Franklin Hansen was a Sunday caller at the Ewalds’.

-Mr. Williams visited with Mr. MacDonald on his way from Montana. From here he is going to Bremerton where he will be employed. He visited his mother in Cashmere en route. Mr. Williams worked in Moses Lake 20 years ago.

-Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Saunders and family are vacationing at Missoula, Montana.

-Mrs. Schwab went to Yakima this week for a few days visit.

-Madell McMillan spent Monday and Tuesday calling on her friends in Warden.

Young Democrats to meet

Young Democrats of the state of Washington are scheduled to hold a conclave in Ephrata on Sunday, Sept. 14, Red Little, state president announced recently.

Little, who resides in Ephrata, made the announcement at the Yakima-Kittitas Young Democratic picnic at Ellensburg two weeks ago.

Local Moses Lake News

-Miss Helen Beck visited friends at Warden on Wednesday.

-Marshall Burress was a business caller at Ritzville Tuesday.

-Dr. and Mrs. Coberly and Mrs. R. Davis and daughter, Joyce, were in Spokane Wednesday.

-Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gutschmidt were guests Sunday of Kate Gerlock of Warden.

-Mr. and Mrs. G.D. Arnold were business callers in Ritzville Tuesday.

-Mrs. Dirks and son, Clyde, and daughter, Marguerite, visited in Spokane Tuesday.

-Miss Kay Kimball of Spokane, Moses Lake High School instructor, was in town Thursday.

-Mrs. Maybelle Smith is home after spending three months in Shelton and Olympia.

-Charles (Buddy) Scott, of Seattle is visiting his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Dickens and reports fine catches of fish daily and the fishing in Moses Lake was swell.

-Mr. and Mrs. Frank T. Bell and granddaughter, Sue Bell, attended the boat races here Sunday.

-Vic Bell will leave soon to take a position in the government engineering office in Unalaska, Alaska.

-Loren E. Harris, postmaster, is driving to Eugene, Oregon to visit his sister and to enjoy a two weeks’ vacation.

-Mr. and Mrs. Pat Gilbert and children and Mrs. Oleson of St. Andrews, were callers in town Sunday afternoon.
