It felt like a holiday in Arlee last week, as the community and school district celebrated the high school boys’ basketball team’s journey to Butte for the Montana High School Association state title, on March 1.
The Warriors went into the game with a 23-0 record, against the Belt Huskies, who held a 18-7 record.
The Warriors continued their perfect record, beating the Huskies 58 to 37.
Students at the high school who had a free period were able to go to Anna Baldwin’s room where they screened the game on the Montana High School Association network.
Baldwin, an English teacher, said that she had the time free of classes and wanted to open up her classroom for those who wanted to watch the game.
Over in the high school gym, Susan Carney, the physical education teacher for grades Kindergarten through six, supplied complimentary popcorn for the 100 people from the community who wanted to watch the game.
As she scooped the popcorn into bags, junior high school students passed it out to the spectators.
The Warriors went on to defeat Manhattan Christian Saturday with a score of 66-58, bringing home a second consecutive state championship.
