MATTAWA — Investigators believe a Mattawa man who is wanted on drug and gun charges is on the run.

The Grant County Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team (INET) is searching for 46-year-old Rafael Rodriguez Portillo, of Mattawa, for suspicion of drug trafficking and firearms charges. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office reported on Wednesday INET detectives and Mattawa police officers served a search warrant at Portillo ’s residence in the 100 block of Second Street in Mattawa.

Detectives and officers reportedly recovered methamphetamine, a pistol that had its serial number “ground off” and a semi-automatic rifle. Portillo, a convicted felon, is not allowed to be in the possession of firearms and was not at the residence. Initial information suggests Portillo is on the run. Portillo is described as 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

If you know where Portillo is contact the sheriff’s office at 509-762-1160 or email crimetips@grantcountywa.gov. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
