COEUR d’ALENE — North Idaho’s annual Home and Garden Show kicked off Friday at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds.
Now in its 46th year, the North Idaho Builders and Contractors Association event presented by CW Wraps and Marketing features more than 100 vendors in five buildings full of displays, said event committee chairman David Gibson. Gibson said the event draws a surprising number of patrons from Spokane, despite being scheduled between other shows in the big city.
The first 300 people through the doors each day will receive free flowers, said NIBCA Executive Officer Leslie Streeter. Eventgoers can also take part in a raffle to win a washer, dryer, steel trimmer, and a package sponsored by the Professional Women in Building. Scavenger hunt players can also win a $500 Home Depot gift certificate.
Food, beer, and wine vendors are on site with Dutch Brothers Coffee scheduled to be here today and Sunday, said Gibson. Children’s activities include face painting and a free outdoor bounce house. Nonprofit organizations such as the Kootenai Adoption Society and North Idaho College Workforce Center are taking part in the event.
Gates are open today from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bring a can of food for the food bank and save $1 off the $6 price of admission. Kids 12 and younger get free admission.
