GEORGE — Alcohol and/or drugs appear to be factors in an early Thursday morning collision near George that left three people injured.
About 5:25 a.m. Elisa Lewis, 29, of Camano Island, was driving a 1991 Acura Integra east on Interstate 90, about nine miles west of George, when she reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The Acura left the interstate, went up an embankment and came to a rest on its side in the median, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Lewis’ two passengers, identified as Austin Ashford, 20, of Arlington, and Mirella Durant, 19, also of Arlington, were ejected out of the Acura. Ashford and Durant received injuries and were initially transported to Quincy Valley Medical Center, but later transferred by ambulance to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee for treatment. Lewis was airlifted to Central Washington Hospital for treatment.
The cause of the rollover is under investigation. The patrol reports alcohol and or drugs played a role in the crash and two counts of vehicular assault will be filed against Lewis.
