KELLOGG — The Historic Silver Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Farmer’s Market has some big changes coming to it this year.

The largely successful event has been a staple of Saturday mornings in the Silver Valley for the past couple of years, but now it will be moving to Thursday nights this summer.

“For 2018, we moved to Thursday evenings from the Saturday mornings,” HSVCC director Colleen Rosson said. “Thursdays seem to be a better fit for our community and vendors to attend. We wanted to create a relaxed setting where everyone can enjoy an evening with friends and experience our taste of place.”

The HSVCC was also trying to avoid competing with the Kootenai County Farmer’s Market which was at the same time.

Along with the change in time and date, the event will now have more space for vendors as well, which should add some diversity to the market’s shopping.

“We have invited some of our amazing local craft artisans this year, so you will have the opportunity to pick up those one of a kind handcrafted creations. There will still be the familiar veggies, preserves and cheeses, and we will be inviting local breweries and wineries to set up each week.”

The event is looking to add some new features to the market and organizers have come up with some clever ideas including live music and guided bicycle rides.

“Our own Sarah Murphy will be your guide along the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes for a relaxing ride,” Rosson said. “On June 28, you can experience the full moon ride.”

Potential vendors must submit an application to the chamber office. The HSVCC Farmer’s Market will begin on Thursday night’s in June from 5-8 p.m. and will be located directly on the Trail of the Coeur d'Alene’s on the Historic Silver Valley Chamber of Commerce office’s lawn.
