MATTAWA — The game between the Warriors and the Owls was reminiscent of last year’s 1A state championship game, but this time it was Wahluke coming away with the 1-nil victory.
“We were able to work hard and get the win against a solid Overlake team,” coach Arthur de Victoria said. “It was quite a defensive game from both sides.
It was indeed as the teams battled to 0-0 tie at the break. The Warriors finally got on the board in the 64th minute on a goal from William Dominguez off an assist from Ricky Cabrera.
“Ricky was able to possesses the ball about 25 yards from goal, and had time to pick out William who was making a run across the top of the 18 yard box,” de Victoria said. “William was then able to place a shot past the Overlake keeper.
The win improved Wahluke to 2-1-1 on the season. The Warriors head to Connell Friday to match up with the Eagles.
