Motorist injured in head-on crash

COCOLALLA — A Sandpoint man was injured after he collided with another vehicle on U.S. Highway 95 on Friday afternoon.

Idaho State Police said Robert Johnson was northbound in a 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass when he drove left of center and crashed into a southbound 2013 Toyota Tundra. Johnson’s midsize sedan continued northbound and went down an embankment, where it struck several trees.

Johnson, 65, was not wearing a seat belt and was taken to Kootenai Health for treatment, state police said. The driver of the pickup Dustin Dinning, a 37-year-old Coeur d’Alene resident was not injured nor was his passanger, Bryon Anderson, 27, of Turner, Ore., according to ISP.

The crash happened shortly after 1 p.m. near Value Tire & Storage, a straight stretch of roadway with a center turn lane.

State police said the crash remains under investigation.
