Winn has big day as Cards split with Wenatchee Valley

WENATCHEE, Wash. — Ashlyn Winn hit a two-run homer in the second inning, and finished with three RBIs as North Idaho College beat Wenatchee Valley 12-1 in the first game of a Northwest Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday.

Madi Mott struck out nine in the win for NIC in the opener.

In the nightcap, Winn drove in three runs for the Cardinals, but NIC allowed six runs in the bottom of the sixth to the Knights in a 9-7 loss.

Timberlake High product Shelby Salois got the win in relief for Wenatchee Valley (8-6, 4-2 NWAC). Glori Cheever, also of Timberlake, had two hits and scored two runs for the Knights.

Taylor Anderson drove in two runs in the second game for NIC (16-2, 7-1), which is scheduled to face Treasure Valley in a doubleheader on Friday at Post Falls High starting at 2 p.m.
