The oil company’s storage tanks that had just been filled were approximately 30 feet away from the flaming house. A spokesman for the Priest River Fire Department said the fire broke out at approximately 7 p.m. The danger for the community was the fire’s proximity to the oil company fuel storage and holding tanks. A halogen lamp left burning in the living room is thought to be the origin of the fire. Damage was estimated at $110,000. The house is owned by Caroline and Judy Jenkins.
