4-H leaders from around the state converged on Thompson Falls High School over the weekend for a Rec Lab hosted by Sanders County.

This is the first time the county has hosted such an event that saw plenty of 4-H’ers come to the western side of the state to take part in a number of team-building workshops.

The event took place Friday afternoon through to Sunday morning.

Workshops took on some inspiring names as they all hosted groups of 4-H kids to hone in on their skills as the year is set to kick off with the warmer weather coming in.

Sanders County 4-H student Ben Croft said, “While it is challenging to host a large event such as Rec Lab, it was well worth it because the newcomers and the old-timers are all able to join together in this fun and always enjoyable event. We as the hosts get to see that our hard work was appreciated.”

“Rec Lab was a super fun and educational experience where I got to meet new people and hang out with old friends. This year looked a little different from when I went last year because my county hosted. We helped set up, serve and clean up for meals, as well as lead a reflection activity and closing ceremony,” said Tressa Lycio

“It was a great experience and it was fun to be a part of the behind the scenes work, as well as practicing my leadership and public speaking skills,” she continued.

Sanders County 4-H Extension Officer Juli Thurston also said it was a great opportunity for the County chapter to continue to build with other 4-H groups around the state.
