Ferris wins 100m dash at Seeley Invitational

Seeley Invitational held in Frenchtown

During the Seeley Invitational held on Saturday, St. Regis Tiger Ian Ferris placed first in the 100 meter dash with 11.31, and third in the 200 with 23.69 in Frenchtown, while teammate Madison Kelly placed first in the 1600 with a time of 6:02.35 and second in the 800 with a time of 2:48.54.

Jack Calloway, Clark Fork Mountain Cat, placed 10th with 12.20 and tenth in the 200 with 25.45. Cat Lolo Falkenhagen in women’s 400 meter placed eleventh with 1:29.85 and Tiger, Ryan Teeter placed eighth in the 1600 meter with 6:13.85. In the 100 meter hurdles, Cat Bailey Milender placed ninth with 19.45 she also placed tenth in the 300 meter hurdles with 58.26. While Isaiah Kovalsky placed tenth in the 300 meter hurdles.

In shot put, Tiger Anna Sanford placed eighth with a throw of 26-06 and Cat Margaret Parkin placed tenth with 25-06.25. Sanford also placed fifth in discus with 94-06.50. In discus Jack Mitchell placed second with 113-10 and Trey Green came in eighth with 100-01.50.

In javelin, Hailey Kelly placed third with 104-03.50 and Kathryn Parkin came in tenth with 88-09.50 and Anna Sanford placed eleventh with 87-00.50. Also, Madison Lommen came in 13 with a jump of 84-11.

In men’s javelin, Joseph Cantrell came in 11 with 106-10. In high jump, Andrew Sanford placed fourth with 5-06 and Hailey Kelly placed sixth with 4-08 and Emma Hill tied for eighth place with Charlo with a jump of 4-06.

In pole vault Madison Mask placed third for the Cats with 7-06 and teammate, Madison Lommen placed sixth with 6-06. In men’s long jump, Ferris placed fourth with 19-01.50. Emma Hill came in 12 in long jump with 13-09. Madison Kelly placed sixth in triple jump with 30-08.75 and Emma Hill 13 with 28-03.50.

Top Ten Meet in Missoula

Top Ten Meet in Missoula on April 24 teams met at Big Sky High School where Clark Fork Mountain Cat, Hailey Kelly placed ninth in javelin with a jump of 109-09 against teams from Sentinel, Columbia Falls, Big Sky, Hellgate, Bigfork, Helena Capital, Charlo, Libby, Bigfork, Glacier, Frenchtown, Corvallis, and Plains. Also, in the 1600, Tiger Madison Kelly placed ninth with 5:45.40.

Mineral County sends tax bill to Forest Service

The Forest Service will be receiving a property tax bill from Mineral County this year. County Commissioners Laurie Johnston, Roman Zylawy and Duane Simons signed the letter March 9 requesting property tax revenue for 2017. The “historic letter” as defined by Rep. Denley Loge, describes the plight Mineral County is facing as options to fund the county have dried up.

Colorado woman dies after vehicle gets stuck

An early evening call received by Mineral County dispatch on Friday, March 17, ended in tragedy. The body of Colorado resident Debra Ann Koziel was found in the Fish Creek area by a search team the following Tuesday afternoon. Her death was determined to be the result of exposure to weather.

No major flooding as snow thaws

“As the ground starts thawing, the rocks start falling,” was a post made on the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page last week. A photo accompanied the post of a big rock which had come down on Mullan Road East near the Big Eddy fishing access in Superior on March 11. “Please be aware of your surroundings and pay attention while driving,” they warned in the post.
