Prep roundup: Big innings aid Moses Lake softball again

YAKIMA — Moses Lake eventually broke through to score nine runs in the seventh inning and beat Eisenhower 16-0.

Despite the game going the full seven innings, Moses Lake led almost the entirety.

Paige Valdez opened the scoring with an RBI single in the second inning. From there, the Chiefs had a tough time cracking Eisenhower starter Lauren Yockey. Yockey totaled 11 strikeouts and maintained the 1-0 deficit through four innings.

However, the dam finally burst after a six-run fifth inning.

Brooklyn Bailey drilled a two-run double, Madison Olson followed with an RBI single and Laurissa Martinez doubled to score Bailey. Valdez drove in Taylor Hofheins on a sacrifice fly and Sydney Ries punched an RBI single into center field.

Moses Lake batted around during the nine-run seventh inning, taking full advantage of the Cadets’ defensive miscues. Eisenhower ended the game with five errors.

Gina Skinner hummed along to the tune of 10 strikeouts in seven innings.

Liberty Bell 18, Soap Lake 0

WINTHROP — Soap Lake was no-hit in an 18-0 loss at Liberty Bell.

Liberty Bell scored all 18 of its runs through three innings. Katie Labanuskus led the Mountain Lions with three hits and four RBI.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 10-8, Northport 0-12

HARTLINE — Almira/Coulee-Hartline split its doubleheader with Northport, winning the opener 10-0 before losing the second game 12-8.

Sarah Bradshaw pitched a complete game shutout in Game 1, totaling seven strikeouts. Sydney Cook had a team-high three RBI and Tiffany Boutain drove in two runs.

Northport raced to a 12-0 lead in Game 2.

Baseball

Royal 11-7, Wahluke 1-0

ROYAL CITY — Kevin Reyes threw a no-hitter in Game 2 and Royal swept Wahluke 11-1, 7-0.

Reyes notched 13 strikeouts in his gem in addition to two RBI.

Royal led the first game 7-1 after three innings.

Boys soccer

Royal 8, Kiona-Benton 0

ROYAL CITY — Royal wrapped up back-to-back SCAC East championships with an 8-0 thumping of Kiona-Benton.

The Knights led 3-0 at halftime behind goals from Alonso Hernandez, Michael Rojas and Eliseo Romero. Romero added a second goal in the 41st minute.

Antonio Barragan, Hernandez, Uriel Garcia and Juan Ojeda also found the back of the net.

The Knights host SCAC West No. 4 seed Granger Thursday at 6 p.m.
