BONNERS FERRY — On Saturday, April 28, the City parking lot was filled with vendors and buyers at the first Farmers Market of the season.

From plants, to handcrafted items, to fresh food, community members and visitors battled the chilly spring day with smiles and friendly conversation.

The kettle corn booth is owned and operated by the families of Janet and Trygve Aos and parents, Barbara and Donald Miller, who regularly attend the Farmers Market, this year marking their 11th season. They also take their booth to the fair in both Bonner and Boundary counties, as well as Schweitzer during the warm months.

“We always look forward to the first day, and we always look forward to the last day,” said Donald Miller. “We have a lot of Canadians stop by because they don’t do this in Canada.”

“It’s the community, you see everybody and everybody is so friendly. We meet new people from all around the world. It’s fun, we enjoy it,” said Barbara Miller.

Another one of the many vendors was Becky Belden and her father David Belden. Becky Belden sells her unique photographs under her name of A Camera’s Eye, and her father hand makes unique lamps from wood under the name of Gramps Lamps.

“I come out here to share my art,” said Becky Belden. “A lot of times we don’t make much money, but just being able to share it is a lot of fun.”

“I’m spur of the moment photography,” said Becky Belden. “I am still learning, but it’s something that I enjoy doing. I want to be different.”

In addition, there was a doughnut booth, hand crafted items from pottery to wooden bowls, plant starts, wooden furniture, and a wide array of other locally made products.
