Linderman Elementary was filled with excitement during STEAM night, held on Thursday, April 26.
Teacher Brittany Simonich said the evening was about integrating science, technology, engineering, arts and math.
“We wanted to host a night where students and their families could learn and apply what is learned in the classroom,” she explained.
Throughout the school, nine stations were set up where students and their families could apply various lessons within the curriculum.
Those nine stations included:
- I STEAM for ice cream, where students measured out ingredients to make ice cream;
- Everyone is a Scientist, a cut-out gave a way for everyone to make silly faces while looking like a scientist;
- Exploration stations, which gave students to design, create and color;
- The Star Lab, which allowed those who crawled into the miniature planitarium the opportunity to gaze up at the stars;
- Radical Robots, where people could program and write code for an Ozobot to race;
- Ship-Shapes!, geometry was applied in fun ways;
- “Rock Down To” Election Avenue, where students learned how electricity works;
- Marshmallow Catapults, applying force and motion to design a catapult;
- Magnet Mania, a chance for students to experience magnets first-hand;
- Aeronautics with Eric, aeronautics enthusiast Eric Kendall was on-hand to show everyone how to make airplanes and fly them through the classroom; and
- Art and Architecture, engineering the building of anyone’s dreams.
Usually hundreds of people attend the event.
