The annual Fireman’s Ball fundraiser for the Troy Volunteer Fire Department will start at noon Saturday with a pool tournament, raffles throughout the day, a dinner, a live auction and live music and dancing into the evening hours.
As always, the event will be hosted at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5514.
The double-elimination pool tournament is $5 per participant, and is planned to go from noon until 2 p.m.
The potluck-style dinner for $7 starts at 5 p.m., with home-cooked food provided by firefighters and their families, as well as the VFW Auxiliary.
The dinner becomes all-you-can eat at 7 p.m., said Post Auxiliary President Francine Ninneman.
Rural 508 Band will begin playing at 9 p.m., with the floor cleared for dancing, Ninneman said.
The live auction had to be limited a litte to make sure the auction is done before the music begins, she said. But there will be 40 items up for auction.
“We went to Libby and Troy and Bonners Ferry, and we got some really nice items,” she said.
Those include things such as both a men’s and a women’s coat by Sleeping Indian, locally purchased carpets, and a cooker-smoker donated by Troy True Value.
The firefighters also work with Booze ‘N Bait in Troy to fill a wash tub with different types of bottles of alcohol. The “booze basket raffle” will be held at the end of the night with the winner taking the tub home.
There is also a 50-50 drawing, Ninneman said.
She estimated around 100 raffles that go on throughout the event as well. “From the time that it starts up, all the way through the night,” she said.
All funds raised by the event go to support the Troy Volunteer Fire Department.
