Mott, Seipert perfect in opener for Cardinals

ONTARIO, Ore. — Madi Mott struck out eight over four hitless innings and Audrey Seipert fanned two of three batters faced as the duo combined on a perfect game in North Idaho College’s 22-0 Northwest Athletic Conference win over the host Treasure Valley Chukars in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday.
Jori Kerr hit a grand slam in an eight-run second inning for NIC, which also had home runs by Kayla Curtan, Megan Carver and Mott. NIC wrapped up the East Region title with a win in the first game of a NWAC twinbill at Blue Mountain of Pendleton, Ore., on Friday.
Kerr homered twice and drove in six runs in a 13-1 win in the nightcap for NIC (43-3, 28-2 NWAC), which returns home to face Yakima Valley in a doubleheader at Post Falls High on Friday starting at 2 p.m.
Treasure Valley (18-26, 17-13) is fourth in the East Region.
