Seifert, Slaveck lead Bulldogs in pair of duals
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 6 years, 8 months AGO
SANDPOINT — Alana Seifert and Jenny Slaveck each won twice in girls singles for Sandpoint, which fell 8-4 to Moscow and 8-3 to Lewiston in a pair of tennis duals on Saturday.
The pair joined Allura Livingston in a clean sweep of girls singles against Moscow, drawing the praise of head coach Kent Anderson.
“Alana played with authority today, hitting lasers at her opponent. Her racket head speed and ball contact were on-point all day,” Anderson said. “Jenny’s serve was too much for her opponent, which set the tone for the entire match. Allura’s instinctive court sense and great ball placement overwhelmed her opponent. Our girls singles lineup combines power with finesse and it’s very hard for anyone to contend with it.”
Anderson said Amy and April Clark played the best match of their high school career in a straight-set shellacking of the Moscow team that was able to defeat them two weeks ago, using power and precision to exact some revenge against their league rivals.
The match of the day against Lewiston was turned in by freshman Christian Story, who scored a 10-1 win at No. 2 boys singles.
“He hit with supreme confidence in a dominant performance,” Anderson said. “His strong first serve, sharp angled cross-courts and solid backhands were a thing of beauty.”
The matches served as a tune-up for 4A districts, which will be held in Sandpoint next Friday and Saturday.
