Savage Heat, Noxon track stars shine

Hot Springs track participant Tyler Carr has frequently found himself mentioned in the top-five finishes in the last couple of meets he has competed in.

Carr, who has competed in a total of five track and field events this season, found himself in the top-five in three events in last week’s Seeley-Swan qualifier, was able to hold his own at one of the year’s bigger events.

Carr placed fifth in the 300-meter hurdles at the KLH Invitational Saturday morning at Big Sky High School at Missoula. Carr recorded a time of 45.18 seconds, a personal record.

Carr has become one of the top-performers on the Savage Heat track squad this season.

Hot Springs has concluded its regular season scheduled track meets and will now move into the postseason.

They will have Districts May 11-12 at Missoula, Divisional May 17-18 at Frenchtown High School and MHSA Class C state at Great Falls May 25-26.

Red Devil, Lady Red Devils excel at KLH

Noxon track athlete Levi Brubaker continues to find himself mentioned in the conversation of the top-five in several of the events he excels and at the KHL Invitational Saturday afternoon at Ananconda High School it was no different.

Brubaker placed third in the triple-jump recording a leap of 40 feet, 1.05 inches at the KLH Invitaitonal.

Thrower Rylan Weltz also finished in the top-five at KLH. Weltz set a personal-record in the discus recording a throw of 122 feet, 7 inches, placing fifth in the discus.

Weltz also participates in the 200-meter dash, shot put and javelin.

Lady Red Devil distance-runner Phalyn Fickas placed fifth at the KLH. Fickas recorded a time of 14 minutes, 53.46 seconds.
