Stephen Shortridge is returning to the Coeur d’Alene art scene as one of the featured artists at Blackwell Gallery.

“We will be showing nine pieces of his work — a few romantic impressionism pieces that people may have seen, a few of his hand-embellished prints and then several new pieces that incorporate some new techniques he is using,” said Beth Rich Brown, gallery manager and curator at Blackwell Gallery, 205 Sherman Ave.

A former Sherman Avenue gallery owner, Shortridge closed The Painter’s Chair Art Gallery in October 2016. An opening reception will take place Friday, May 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. in conjunction with the Coeur d’Alene Arts and Culture Alliance’s Artwalk.

Regular Blackwell Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
