EAST WENATCHEE — Moses Lake did just enough to beat Eastmont 1-0 and clinch its sixth consecutive Columbia Basin Big Nine league championship.

The league title means Moses Lake hosts the district championship game on May 19 and clinches another berth to the state tournament.

The Chiefs totaled eight hits, but were only able to score once in the first inning. Brooklyn Bailey ripped a two-out double to center field that scored Cheyenne Walker.

That was it for the rest of the game, for either team.

Gina Skinner and Eastmont starter Rylee Cox dueled through seven innings. Skinner limited the Wildcats to three hits, striking out eight with just one walk.

Eastmont’s only real threat came in the fourth inning when Zoe Sundet doubled to left field. Skinner responded by striking out Cox and forcing a ground out to Madison Olson at third base.

Moses Lake hosts a doubleheader with Eastmont on Friday in the regular-season finale. Game 1 is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
