Rep. Luke Malek is one of three state lawmakers selected to receive the 2018 Legislator of the Year Award from the Idaho Prosecuting Attorney’s Association.

The association announced Tuesday that Sen. Pattie Anne Lodge, R-Huston; Sen. Lee Heider, R-Twin Falls; and Malek, R-Coeur d’Alene, will receive the honor at the association’s summer conference.

Grant Loebs, Twin Falls county prosecutor, said, in a news release, that the three lawmakers “have been true friends of law enforcement and prosecutors.”

“No one has sacrificed more or stood up for the safety of Idaho’s citizens as you have and, in so doing, you have shown great strength and courage on our behalf.”

Kootenai County Prosecutor Barry McHugh said Malek does what’s right for the community and places community safety as his highest priority.
