The Mission High School boys’ track team had a total of five first-place finishes at the Lake County Meet Thursday afternoon at Ronan.

Thrower Michael Durglo and jumper Flint McPherson emerged as stars in the Lake County Meet.

All season, these two competitors have found themselves at or near first place and they had an opportunity to showcase their talent in front of the entire Mission Valley.

Durglo has cemented himself as one of the top throwers in the county, and he had a chance to prove it at the most recent meet. Durglo achieved a personal record in the shot put recording a throw of 47 feet, 2 inches.

In the discus, it was more of the same as Durglo recorded a throw of 129 feet, 1 inches and in the javelin, though he didn’t achieve a personal record, he completely outdid his competition.

Durglo’s distance of 134 feet, 8 inches easily surpassed Charlo’s Brock Tomlin, who finished second in the javelin recording his personal best with 128 feet, 5 inches.

Durglo’s Bulldog teammate McPherson finished first in the long jump with a distance of 18 feet, 3.5 inches and also recorded a triple jump of 38 feet, 6.5 inches.
