An Evergreen man died in a fire at his home recently.

According to information from the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office, the body of Mark Edwin McCorkle, 61, was discovered Monday.

McCorkle died as a result of a fire in his home on Mountain View Drive that occurred in the days prior to the discovery of his body.

The interior of his home had extensive fire and smoke damage, but the fire only burned the interior of the home and there were no signs of fire visible on the exterior of the residence, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

McCorkle was taken to the Montana State Crime Lab for autopsy and the results are pending, but no foul play is suspected.

The home was turned over to the Flathead County Fire Investigation Team for a determination of the cause and manner of the fire.
