MOSES LAKE — Local businessman and Moses Lake Irrigation and Rehabilitation District Board member Jeff Foster recently announced his intention to file to run for District No. 3 commissioner on the Board of County Commissioners.

“It is my intention to file as a candidate on Monday when the official filing period opens. I have assembled a team of supporters and donors to help me. The level of support and encouragement I have received has helped me make this decision,” Foster declared this week.

Foster describes himself as a lifetime Republican with over 16 years of experience in managing commercial banking relationship in Grant County and the Tri-Cities, Othello, Odessa, Connell and Lind. Foster touts his experience in sales, land, commercial development and property management.

“I have professional, civic and personal experience in problem solving that will enable me to help the citizens of Grant County,” Foster said.

Foster has spent the last six years as chairman for the Moses Lake Irrigation and Rehabilitation District Board.

“I have enjoyed my time serving the rate payers of the MLIRD. I feel I have more to offer the citizens of Grant County.”

“Grant County has been very good to me both professionally and personally. I am excited about my opportunity to give back to the people of Grant County by using my experiences and lessons learned while serving on many community and industry related boards, committees, and civic organizations,” Foster stated.

The position Foster is filing for is currently held by Commissioner Cindy Carter, whose term expires at the end of this year. Carter is out of the office until Monday and could not be reached for comment about her election plans.
