Athol man drowns in Bonner County

An Athol man drowned Saturday while visiting a Bonner County lake with his family.

Jerry W. Larson, 50, was recovered from Jewel Lake by members of the Bonner County Sheriff’s Dive Unit.

Larson drowned after jumping from a dock into the lake to retrieve a remote control airplane that was floating about 75 yards from the dock, according to the sheriff’s office.

Selkirk Fire and Bonner EMS also responded.
