Day 1 of filing week ends

MOSES LAKE — The first day of filing week in Grant County passed with mainly incumbents filing to run for office and few surprises in terms of challengers.

The Grant County Elections Department reports that a total of 31 people have filed for 22 offices so far. Filing week ends on Friday, but candidates have until Monday to withdraw if they decide they no longer want to run. Each of the offices up for election comes with a filing fee that is non-refundable if a candidate decides to withdraw.

The following candidates had filed as of the Columbia Basin Herald’s press time on Monday:

U.S. Senator:

Sam Wright, Human Rights Party-Olympia.

Mike Luke, L-Lynnwood.

Clint R. Tannehill, D-Seattle.

Roque “Rocky” De La Fuente, R-San Diego.

Charlie R. Jackson, I-Anacortes.

Jon Butler, I-Edgewood.

Mohammad Said, D-Ephrata.

Don L. Rivers, D-Seattle.

4th Congressional District:

Christine Brown, D-Kennewick.

Dan Newhouse, R-Yakima.

12th Legislative District:

Mike Steele, R-Chelan.

13th Legislative District Senator:

Judy Warnick, R-Moses Lake.

13th Legislative District Representative No. 1:
