368 students to graduate from FVCC on Friday

Flathead Valley Community College will graduate its 50th class on Friday, May 18 during the college’s spring commencement ceremony.

FVCC will recognize 368 students for completing graduation requirements during the 2017–2018 academic year.

The college will award 345 associate’s degrees and 48 certificates, with some individual students earning more than one degree and/or certificate.

The featured speaker will be FVCC alumna and astrophysicist Dr. Sarah Rugheimer, a graduate of Harvard University and a current Simon Origins of Life Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. Later this year, she will begin the Glasstone Research Fellowship at Oxford University in England.

The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. on the campus lawn adjacent to the Rebecca Chaney Broussard Center for Nursing and Health Science.

Climate change awards announced

Climate Smart Glacier Country announced its Climate Smart Champions during a ceremony at the Earth Day celebration April 21 in Whitefish. Awards were presented to businesses, youth and an individual who are leaders in building local solutions to climate change challenges.
