The hard work of the students and staff at Priest River Lamanna High School continues.

Mr. Gary Stewart, web design, broadcasting, economics and history teacher at Priest River Lamanna High School has been awarded another Career Technical Education grant in the amount of $10,000.

The grant will go toward the purchase of portable live TV station (called a production switcher) called the Livestream Studio HD 550.

The HD550 is a very high end computer with specialized software and hardware that allows a student to plug in a couple microphones and cameras, and you’re ready to stream a live broadcast. Stewart said that the device could be used for sporting events, drama, choir, graduation, Battle of the Buck. etc.

Stewart said the state-of-the-art system will allow Spartan TV students to broadcast live or record any school or community event and stream it to the school web site or Spartan TV YouTube channel.

In addition, the North Idaho Student Teacher Achievement Recognition banquet was held May 7. The NISTAR program honors two students from the top 10 percent of the senior class who have demonstrated outstanding performance in academics and participation in school activities.

In turn, each recipient is afforded the opportunity to choose an educator who had the most impact on their overall education.

Spencer Sedgwick selected Stewart and Randy Stuart selected Dan Caldwell (government, honors government, senior project, and sociology teacher).

West Bonner County School District officials said the students and teachers are very deserving of this recognition for their hard work and dedication to excellence. The students indicated because of what they have learned from these teachers it has inspired what they want to do in the future.
