Sherry Ann LaClaire, 67

Sherry was born Oct. 21, 1950, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Lawrence and Lou Ann Mietzner. She passed away May 1, 2018, in Molalla, Ore., from ALS after spending nine months in a nursing home due to her illness.

As a young girl, Sherry was raised on farms in Quincy, George and Curlew, Wash. Her family moved back to Idaho when her parents purchased Twin Echo Resort on lower Twin Lakes. She attended schools in Quincy and Curlew, and Lakeland High School in Rathdrum, Idaho.

Sherry married Perry LaClaire on April 27, 1968. Her last goal was to celebrate 50 years of marriage, which she achieved, passing away just four days later.

Sherry and Perry started their family, having three daughters and one son. The family moved throughout the Northwest and Dakotas while the kids were growing up. They settled back in Portland, Ore. After all the kids had left home they became vendors, selling sunglasses and knives while living in their motorhome home and traveling throughout the United States to fairs and shows. Sherry worked hard in their business until her illness forced her to quit and move back to Portland in May of 2017.

Sherry’s hobbies were crocheting, reading, canning, cooking, baking and going to the casino occasionally, especially if her sister was visiting her and Perry. Her cinnamon rolls were delicious and hard to duplicate. Sherry most of all loved spending time with her family and friends for a good meal and just visiting. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly.

Sherry is survived by her husband of 50 years, Perry of Lake Oswego, Ore.; her son, Ryan (Abbie) of Lake Oswego; daughters, Kerri Myers of Molalla, Heidi Geyer of White Lake, S.D., Danielle (Sam) Espinoza of Portland; sister, Rosemary Normington of Post Falls, Idaho; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one aunt and uncle; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Diane Krause and Joyce Blanton; niece, Shana Krause and grandson, Colin Myers.

A celebration of life was held May 6, 2018, in Lake Oswego and burial took place on May 14, 2018, in Post Falls.

Sherry, you were a beautiful person and wonderful wife, mom, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. We all miss you so much but know you are free from the pain and suffering from ALS. You are forever in our hearts.
