May 20, 1968 — VEHICLES DAMAGED

Bruce W. Greene, 18, Sagle, and Benjamin F. Pierce, 25, Ephrata, were involved in a minor accident at the entrance of the parking lot at Don’s Drive-In between Pine and Lake on First Ave. Damage was reported as light. Police said lack of view of traffic contributed to the mishap.

CRANE BLAZE STOPPED BY NORTHSIDE

Volunteer firemen from the Northside Fire Assn. were called to the Harold Crane farm at Oden on Friday, May 10.

At about 4 p.m., Mrs. Art Burnett saw the fire from her home and called in the alarm.

Firemen who responded were Dean Miller, Gary Tyler, Don Benda, Dick Senft, Bob Lyons, Gene Reed, Leonard Sevier Jr. and Ray Yaw.

FORMER CLASSMATES ENJOY LUNCHEON

Mrs. Mae Burt entertained former classmates at a luncheon at her home on Thursday.

Guests were Mrs. Ronnie Bleckwenn, Mrs. Margaret Powell, Mrs. Mary Mitton, Mrs. Dixie Seybold, Mrs. Alice Lynch, and Mrs. Merritt Scott. The afternoon was spent visiting and viewing slides shown by Mrs. Lynch of places her family has lived in the New England states and New Zealand.

Pend d’Oreille Review

May 20, 1918 — TAYLOR TO WASHINGTON

Gov. Alexander Friday informed Captain H.H. Taylor of this city of his recommendation for service at Washington, with the rank of major.

Capt. Taylor stated he would accept the position if tendered him upon the governor’s recommendation. His duties would take him to Washington, though at any time he could be called to overseas duty or to assignment to any part of the United States.

COUNTY UNIFORMS

Ten young ladies attended Wednesday’s meeting at the county treasurer’s office, agreeing to a uniform dress during office hours. It was not decided if the color will be olive drab or gray.

RED CROSS MONDAY

The start on Sandpoint’s Red Cross drive will be signalized by a public demonstration Monday when the film “The Spirit of the Red Cross” will be shown at the Gem theatre, after a Red Cross parade and exhibition drill by Company B. The Sandpoint band will head the procession. The film, a government production, gives a close-up view of the Red Cross at work on the battlefield.

ATTORNEY GENERAL TO SPEAK

Attorney General Walters will deliver a patriotic address at the Gem theatre tomorrow evening in the interests of the Red Cross drive. Mr. Walters has a fine patriotic address and it will be well worth the hearing.
