OTHELLO — A second suspect in a weekend shooting near Othello that left a 17-year-old with a gunshot wound to the shoulder has been taken into custody.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office says 23-year-old Randy Godinez has been booked into the Adams County Jail for suspicion of attempted murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and second-degree burglary. A 14-year-old boy has also been taken into custody for investigation of the same charges as Godinez.

The shooting occurred about 10:20 p.m. in the 600 block of South Danielle Road, west of Othello. In the incident a 17-year-old boy was reportedly shot in the left shoulder as he was sitting in a vehicle. The victim survived the wound and was released from Othello Community Hospital.

The 14-year-old boy was later taken into custody in the 600 block of South Saddle Road, southwest of Othello. No other information was released about the incident, but the ACSO says the shooting “has a connection to gang activity.” The weapons believed to have been used during the incident were located during the serving of search warrants.
