MOSES LAKE -- American Legion Post No. 209 will remember veterans on Memorial Day with ceremonies at the two community cemeteries and the memorial to victims of a 1952 plane crash.

A remembrance ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Pioneer Memorial Gardens, 14403 Northeast Road 2. Each ceremony traditionally includes a rendition of “Taps” and a 21-gun salute. The same ceremony is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Guardian Angel Cemetery, 2595 Northeast Road L.

The remembrance ceremony is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at the 87 Forgotten Heroes Memorial, at the intersection of Andrews and 26th streets, just outside the gate at the Grant County International Airport. The memorial recognizes the victims of the 1952 plane crash that killed 87 service members on their way home for Christmas.

Legion members will be at Pioneer cemetery at 9 a.m. Saturday, doing some prep work for the Aisle of Flags, which will be installed early Monday morning. The Legion is looking for volunteers to help, and for volunteers to help put out the flags at 7 a.m. Monday.
