ROYAL CITY — Tanu Buck claimed the District 5 championship in the 800 meter race Friday in Royal City and set a PR along the way with a time of 2:01.9. Isaac Sanchez placed third in the pole vault clearing 9-6 and became the first Warrior athlete to qualify for State in the event, and Mirna Gallaga set a PR in the discus with a toss of 108-2.

All three athletes will compete in the WIAA 1B, 2B and 1B Track and Field Championships at Eastern Washington University in Cheney May 24-26.

Twenty Wahluke athletes qualified for the District 5 meet, and only two were seniors, so the Warriors track program will field an experienced team in 2019.
