A Kalispell man serving in the U.S. Marines died Friday during a training run in Japan.
Cpl. Donavon Macura, the son of Ken and Marcie Macura, of Kalispell, and a 2016 Glacier High School graduate, was stationed in Okinawa, Japan.
According to his high school wrestling coach Ross Dankers, a military official told the family that Macura was on a 3-mile run when he collapsed.
“He took a knee, had a seizure and collapsed,” Dankers said.
Dankers said Macura had no previous medical issues that the family was aware of.
Macura wrestled all four years at Glacier High School.
“Donavon was an awesome kid, a leader who took care of others around him,” Dankers said. “He was the kind of kid you wanted your son to be. He loved being a Marine and loved being a wrestler 100 percent.
“He loved what those two things stood for,” Dankers added.
Dankers said funeral arrangements will be made at a later date.
