Prep roundup: ACH baseball wins state, completes perfect season
CONNOR VANDERWEYST | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 6 years, 5 months AGO
CENTRALIA — Almira/Coulee-Hartline rectified its loss in last year’s 1B state championship with a win over Colton 8-4.
The Warriors’ win in the title game capped an unbeaten season.
ACH took a 2-0 lead in the first inning after Dalton Kentner singled and eventually scored on another single from Brayton Shafer. Later, Maguire Isaak took advantage of Colton’s defensive miscues to score.
Colton evened the game 2-2 before ACH regained the lead for good, scoring a pair of runs on squeeze bunts by Chase Gerard and Tim Hahn.
Junior standout Kentner nearly went the distance on the mound for the Warriors, but neared the daily pitch limit in the seventh inning. Ryan Sample relieved Kentner and struck out Colton’s final batter to end the game.
