Street wins state javelin title, boys finish 8th

Angellica Street completed her dominance of girls Class A javelin and the boys used a balanced effort to finish eighth as a team Saturday as Columbia Falls competed in the State Track Meet in Laurel.
Street beat her closest competitor by more than 20 feet to take home the state javelin title. Her toss of 147 feet, 7 inches easily defeated Hamilton’s Cariann Kunkel, who finished second at 127 feet, 1 inch.
The boys got the majority of their points from the pole vault, where Ben Windauer finished second after clearing a height of 13 feet, 6 inches and Austin Green was fifth at 13 feet.
The mile relay team of Easton Sempf, Tucker Salmonsen, Zackary Pletcher and Drew Morgan finished second with a time of 3:27.61 while the 400-meter relay team of Kaeden Clewien, Morgan, Logan Kolodejchuk and Daniel Henjum finished sixth with a time of 43.77 seconds.
Parker Greene took third in the discus with a toss of 150 feet, 3 inches, Gabe Knudsen was fifth in the 1,600 meter run with a time of 4:35.57 and Tucker Salmonsen was fifth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:02.78.
Along with Street’s state title for the Wildkats in the javelin, Genevieve Delorme was third in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:25.04 and Tallia Sova was sixth in the javelin with a throw of 113 feet, 5 inches.
