Wildkat softball drops two at state, tennis teams go 1-4

The Wildkats finished out the softball season with an 11-13 record after dropping a pair of games at the Class A State Tournament in Frenchtown over the weekend.

Head coach Dave Kehr said his team had a tough time hitting the ball in a 6-5 loss to Sidney on Thursday and had defensive troubles against Butte Central in a 10-9 loss Saturday.

In tennis action at the State Meet in Polson and Ronan, the Wildcat team of John Gilk and Tristan Grein won one of three matches as they lost to Hardin in the first round, 6-1, 6-1, defeated Butte Central 6-0, 6-4 and lost to Whitefish in a close match 6-3, 4-6, 7-5.

On the girl’s side, Taylor Jarrett and Anna Pickard lost to Stevensville in the opening round, 6-3, 6-3, before losing to Dawson County in the next round, 6-1, 6-1.
