MOSCOW — Bonners Ferry High School swimmer Julia Cummings earned her place at State after the Districts swim meet on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the University of Idaho pool.
“Julia Cummings, while the only 3A or below girls swimmer, was the top 3A performer,” said coach Greg Jackson. “Even if she would have had other 3A competitors, they’d have been hard pressed to compete with her.”
Cummings placed second out of 12 finishers in the girls 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.84, and second out of eight finishers in the girls 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.73.
“She achieved personal bests in both events,” said Jackson. “If it’s not obvious, I couldn’t be happier with the meet. It was a great conclusion for some of the swimmers’ seasons, and a great motivator for those going on to state.”
The state meet is Nov. 2-3, at the Boise YMCA.
