BONNERS FERRY — A fire broke out on Ridgewood Road on the evening of Saturday, Oct. 27. The initial report was that the roof of a house was on fire and the fire was spreading to the interior.

Moyie Springs Fire was initially paged and responded, even though this was outside their district. Curley Creek Fire was then paged and responded as well, along with aid from North Bench Fire, South Boundary Fire, Paradise Valley Fire and Boundary Ambulance.

According to North Bench Fire Chief Gus Jackson, when Moyie Spring Fire arrived first on scene, they began a transitional attack from the outside. North Bench arrived next on scene and helped to continue the attack from the outside until additional personnel arrived to assist, at which point they began an offensive attack and began working on the inside of the structure.

“It was a very nice save,” said Jackson. “Seeing the cooperation between the agencies, showed efficiency and teamwork.”

Jackson said that the fire had showed the potential to spread in the way the structure was, but the firefighters worked hard to contain it as quickly as possible.

“Through efficient tactics and operations, we caught it,” said Jackson. “That led to a very good outcome.”

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
