Youngsters from throughout Sanders County, plus Mineral County, will gather Sunday, Nov. 11 for the annual Elks Lodge No. 2757 Hoop Shoot in the Thompson Falls High School gym. Competition begins at 2 p.m.
Top shooters emerged from free-throw shooting competition at their schools. Winners from three age groups — 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13 for boys and girls — move on to the local Elks Hoop Shoot this weekend. They will represent Plains, Thompson Falls, Noxon, Trout Creek and Superior.
Members of Elks Lodge 2757 are volunteering to help hold the local shoot.
The next step is for girls’ and boys’ age-group winners to qualify for the District Hoop Shoot in Hamilton in January. From there, winners move on to the State Elks Hoop Shoot in February in Livingston.
Following those levels is the Regional Elks Hoop Shoot in March, and competition is culminated by the National Hoop Shoot Finals in April.
