SANDPOINT — “Mission Hometown” is the theme of Sandpoint Community Resource Center’s next Service Provider Information Network meeting.
The meeting will focus on Results of the 2018 Community Health Assessment and, including data from a variety of community sources that describe “critical needs” in Bonner and Boundary counties, said Bonnie Pafundi, SCRC administrative assistant. Those needs include emergency housing, substance abuse, mental illness and access to healthcare.
“These seem to be the main issues that are in our area, based on local evaluations,” Pafundi said.
SCRC is a nonprofit with the goal of helping people locate resources for various needs within the community, such as housing, veteran services and more.
“We’re the place people can call if they have a need,” Pafundi said. “Part of the reason we can do that is because we built up a network.”
Every quarter, that network gets together in a panel to discuss different topics. In the past, she said, they have done panel discussions for veteran resources, or most recently, emergency planning. The upcoming event is “a little bigger,” she said.
Presenters participating in the event include representatives from SCRC, Panhandle Health District, Bonner Community Housing Agency, Department of Health and Welfare, Community Action Partnership, Bonner General Health, Helping Hands Healing Hearts, North Idaho Crisis Services and more.
The meeting will revolve around three categories — discover, connect and inspire solutions.
The group will discover the results of the Community Health Assessment and other data, as well as who is actively engaged in improving the wellbeing of the community, and what is currently being done to affect change, she said. Participants will then connect with concerned community stakeholders, learn about agencies and organizations and share ideas.
The meeting will begin with a panel discussion, followed by breakout sessions where the groups can discuss the issues and the possible problem solving in more detail.
Inspiring solutions includes actions designed to improve the health and livability of the community, and developing ongoing relationships and actions to drive results.
“That’s the outcome ... the whole point isn’t just to keep sharing, it’s to inspire solutions,” Pafundi said.
The meeting will be held from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., Nov. 13, in the Assembly of God Church, 423 N. Lincoln Ave., Sandpoint.
While it is not open to the general public, Pafundi said those from local businesses or organizations who would like to be involved in SPIN can register for the meeting by Nov. 11 at scrc@sandpointcommunityresource.com.
