SANDPOINT — Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2453 is selling its custom chocolate bars to raise money for military service veterans in Bonner County.

The post’s fundraiser coincides with the Veterans Day holiday on Sunday, Nov. 11. The bars sell for $3 apiece and can be found at Burl Wood Dreams, Café Trinity, Chocolate Bear, Mr. Sub, Route 66 Autobody, Sears and the UPS Store in downtown Sandpoint.

The specially made “Freedom is Sweet” candy bars are becoming one of the VFW post’s most reliable fundraisers.

“It’s been a real asset,” said post member George Eskridge.

Money raised from the chocolate bar fundraiser helps sustain the post’s emergency fund, said post member Larry Peterson. The emergency fund helps veterans in Bonner County with home heating assistance, mortgage payments, auto repairs and meal assistance.
