OTHELLO — Larry McCourtie, member of the Othello City Council since 2016 and longtime hospital board member, died on Tuesday. He was 78.

According to Mayor Shawn Logan, McCourtie was a very active member of the Othello community, sitting on the hospital board for more than 20 years and supporting the Othello Beautification Committee, the Othello Lions Club, the Othello Chamber of Commerce and other city activities “too numerous to mention.”

“Our hearts are heavy, but we are encouraged about a life that was lived and the memory of a man who was a friend to everyone,” Logan said.

“We’re really sad,” Logan added.

McCourtie is survived by his wife Fay Ann, his sons John and Dan, his daughters Terry and Tami and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
