MOSES LAKE — There are a lot of unknowns out there and things that are hard to predict. One thing that isn’t, however, is that by month’s end the Moses Lake Police Department will be pretty hairy, as the department is participating in “No-Shave November” for a second year to raise money for a good cause.

For $100 MLPD officers are able to participate in the month-long struggle to avoid picking up a razor and shaving cream. Last year the department raised $2,300 that went directly to the Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation.

“The reason we are donating the money to them again is because all that money stays local and it helps our local Grant County citizens. We are committed to doing this to bring awareness to cancer and also to be able to help our fellow citizens,” MLPD Chief Kevin Fuhr explained.

Fuhr’s goal is for 20 officers to participate, but he did mention that the facial hair must be kept tidy.

“I’m hoping in a month we don’t have any Grizzly Adams, but they still have to keep their neck trimmed and all that good stuff,” the chief joked.

Locals who want to support the MLPD can drop off donations at the Moses Lake Police Department, 411 S. Balsam St., or contact the Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation directly at 509-764-4644.
