Chiefs tops Seattle in OT

KENT, Wash. — Luke Toporowski scored 3:58 into overtime to rally the Spokane Chiefs past the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-2 in Western Hockey League play in front of 4,253 at the ShoWare Center on Tuesday.

It was Toporowski’s second career game-winner in overtime.

Spokane trailed 2-0 after two periods before Ethan McIndoe scored just over seven minutes into the third period. Ty Smith tied the game at 2-2 with just over three minutes left in regulation. Smith extended his points streak to seven game, and has scored in 16 of 17 games this year.

Spokane (10-7-1-2, 23 points) hosts Seattle on Friday at 7:05 p.m. at the Spokane Arena.
