OTHELLO — One person was injured on Thursday in a single-vehicle rollover collision west of Othello.

About 5:15 p.m. Lorenzo Ontiveros, 66, of Toppenish, was driving a 1997 Volkswagen Jetta west on state Route 24, about 22 miles west of Othello, when he reportedly left the roadway to the right. The Jetta reportedly rolled a came to a rest on its right side.

The Washington State Patrol says Ontiveros had an unspecified medical emergency, which is what is believed to have caused the rollover. Ontiveros had to be extricated from his vehicle and was transported to Othello Community Hospital for treatment of a possible broken jaw, broken cheek bone and concussion.

Ontiveros was not cited by the patrol. The roadway was blocked for about 45 minutes as responders cleared the roadway and investigated the collision.
