Sturgis takes lead in laker standings

SANDPOINT — Coeur d’Alene angler Brad Sturgis moved into the first-place slot an the adult mackinaw standings in the K&K Derby, the Lake Pend Oreille Idaho Club announced on Sunday. And that lead held up despite an active day on the lake Monday.
Sturgis hauled in a 17.74-pound lake trout that measured 37 inches. Becky Sturgis, meanwhile, moved to second place in the mack standings with a 17.3-pounder that measured 35 1/2 inches, which bumped Gale Belgarde in the third-place billet.
Julie Williams continues to lead the adult rainbow trout standings with a 20.78-pounder that measured 34 inches. George Schernitzki and Jim Brewer round out the top-three standings in the adult rainbow contest. Schernitzki boated a 19.24-pound rainbow, while Brewer caught an 18.36-pounder.
Carson Laybourne moved into the lead in the junior division with a 14.54-pounder that measured 31 1/2 inches. Keefe Shockey and Lyla Shelton top the Youth A and B standings, respectively.
